According to Greek mythology, humans were originally created with two faces, four arms, four legs and two sets of genitalia. They were fearless, fast and quite dominant than the present day humans.

One day, the imprudent creatures threatened to conquer the gods and become the new rulers. Soon, instead of killing the creatures, the gods came up with a solution to fight back.

To stop them, Zeus split the creatures in half to punish them for their foolishness. As a result, each creature was only left with one face, two arms, two legs and a single set of genitals. This left the creatures in complete misery. To mitigate their sorrow, Apollo (God of healing) sewed them up and made a couple changes to the creatures’ bodies.

Soon, all the creatures were in search of their ‘other half’. They set out to find their other part to attain completion both physically and mentally. Thus, the concept of soulmates came into picture. Myth or not, this is quite an interesting topic.

Finding someone who gets you, respects you and encourages you has always been a desire of humans.A true soulmate accepts you for who you are in spite of all your flaws. It’s someone who turns on your soul and makes you feel free. Some believe there are multiple soulmates for a person. In a way or so, almost everyone believes that there exists a soulmate for them. Do you?

‘What is your definition of a soulmate?’

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychiatric disorder; triggered after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. The events are commonly connected to accidents or abuse. A common illness that may last several months or years; it may start from a month after the event.

The symptoms include panic attacks, eating disorders, flashbacks and nightmares. They are often referred to as ‘traumatic triggers’. A person suffering from PTSD may experience dizziness, nausea, difficulty in breathing and trouble concentrating. If left untreated, it has a high chance of turning into depression making it difficult for the person to do daily tasks.

If you have a friend suffering with PTSD, don’t pressure them into talking. They feel vulnerable that leads to anger and irritability. Be patient and rebuild trust. Emphasize their strengths. Give them space and try to remain calm. When you feel like they are ready, talk to them about the triggers and try to be a good listener.

Recently the British Psychological Society said that the country’s National Health Service Staff, on the front line of the Covid-19 pandemic, are at a high risk of developing anxiety and PTSD; referring to a “future mental health crisis”.

In these tough times it is extremely important to stay sane. If you feel like your anxiety is building up it is alright to talk to someone about it. There are people out there to help; it is up to you to give them a chance.

“Mental illness is not a personal failure”

Unless you are a psychopath or someone who has a really bad taste, you ought to love animated movies. Regardless of your age, there must be at least one animated movie that managed to connect with you at some point or the other.

Many people have a misconception that these movies are merely just for children. That is absolutely false on so many levels. They have so much to offer for both adults and children.

There’s just something about animated movies that makes them so special. The story line, quality of the characters, the emotions involved; everything is  woven in such a perfect way making the result so pure and heart-touching.  They are executed brilliantly with a strong message and leave no stone unturned to entertain us.

I love animated movies! I have always been crazy about them. I am 20 years old; but even today, I end up crying after watching any animated movie. If you ask me, there is no such thing as a ‘bad’ anime movie. They are all beautiful in their own unique way.

There are so many great animated movies out there. They tug at your heart strings and make you feel deep stuff. But if I have to choose: Frozen, Inside Out and Coco would be my top favorites.

If you are someone who doesn’t watch many animated movies, then trust me, you should definitely give them a try!

What is your favorite animated movie? Let me know in the comment section below 🙂

When was the last time you truly loved someone?

When was the last time you told someone that you loved them?

When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably?

When was the last time you had your heart broken

When was the last time you cried?

When was the last time you realized it is all just a part of life?

When was the last time you felt free?

When was the last time you tried to love ‘again’?

The other day, I was scrolling through social media, absent-minded.  Amid all the stuff, there was this one news that caught my eye.

“793 Italians die in a day”.

I just sat there, with a heavy heart, looking at my phone. God, almost eight hundred people on a single day! With almost over 6000 people dead, Italy has the highest death rate for the COVID-19.

Recent videos from Italy show that the country is fighting one of its toughest battles yet. Though it has one of the best healthcare systems in the world, they’ve reported that the corona virus has pushed it to its breaking point.

“It is a nightmare, where people are getting sick one after the other”

The worst: “People in the isolation ward are asking for their wives and husbands in their last hours. With no chance to have anybody around, they’re dying on their own

This is the current situation in one of the best equipped countries in the world. Just imagine if the same phase starts in India. Do you think our country’s health care system has what it takes to stop this deadly virus?

No doubt the virus will spread like wildfire here if the required precautions are not taken. If we fail to prevent it, the situation is going to be a whole lot worse than that of Italy and China. This is the reason why the government is ordering people to quarantine themselves.

At this point, we can just prevent it from becoming an epidemic. The only thing which we can, and have to do is to keep distance. ‘Social distance’, ‘Quarantine’, ‘Self Isolate’, call it whatever you want. But, stay at home and stop spreading germs. Why? Because it’s all news and numbers until it gets to you or any of your close ones. Till then, we can just pray for all the lives that have been lost and hope this goes away as soon as possible.

Over the last couple of days, several girls on social media have been following a certain ‘trend’. It goes something like this. You have to upload a picture of yourself and type a big paragraph about how you stand for uplifting women.  The information goes vaguely like, “Too often women criticize each other instead of building each other up. Be a part of uplifting other women. Let’s do something positive today. Upload a picture of yourself along with this caption and nominate your friends to do it as well”

I mean….Tell me I’m not the only person who thinks this is lame. No offense to all the girls who’ve entertained this. But, really! We all know that you spent almost an hour searching or clicking that gram-worthy picture, copy-pasted that entire info and hit post.

Personally, I just think that with all the stuff that’s been going around and people being ‘quarantined’ at their homes with their laptops and mobiles, having nothing to do, this was started by some dead bored girl who just needed an excuse to post her picture. (To seek validation)

All said, sorry if I’ve offended anyone. I strongly stand for women supporting and encouraging each other. But the real change comes from actions. Not through some lame IG stories. So, let’s each take a step towards empowering each other. Start complimenting other women. Stand up for each other. Because, there is nothing stronger than a team of powerful and confident women! Instead of being jealous or impolite, let’s practice more appreciation and admiration.  Be Bossy. Be Brave. Most importantly, have a Voice!

Do what is right, not what is popular”

On a lighter note, if you really want to spread good vibes during these tough times, try suggesting some good movies or shows for people to watch in these times of boredom and crisis. Many would appreciate it. RESPECT!

Why are we so scared of the future? So scared that nothing would be the same after a certain point of time? It’s not like we love our present situations either. But, given a chance, would we go back to the past. Most people definitely would. You might just want to be done with the present, but later this present is the past you will retrospect about.

So can we make our PRESENT a little more better to give ourselves a good PAST? Confusing maybe! Not really. Maybe we’ve become so used to our mundane lives that we don’t want anything to change. Because the journey is nothing less than an adventure and let’s admit it, we are scared.
