WOMEN FOR WOMEN

Over the last couple of days, several girls on social media have been following a certain ‘trend’. It goes something like this. You have to upload a picture of yourself and type a big paragraph about how you stand for uplifting women.  The information goes vaguely like, “Too often women criticize each other instead of building each other up. Be a part of uplifting other women. Let’s do something positive today. Upload a picture of yourself along with this caption and nominate your friends to do it as well”

I mean….Tell me I’m not the only person who thinks this is lame. No offense to all the girls who’ve entertained this. But, really! We all know that you spent almost an hour searching or clicking that gram-worthy picture, copy-pasted that entire info and hit post.

Personally, I just think that with all the stuff that’s been going around and people being ‘quarantined’ at their homes with their laptops and mobiles, having nothing to do, this was started by some dead bored girl who just needed an excuse to post her picture. (To seek validation)

All said, sorry if I’ve offended anyone. I strongly stand for women supporting and encouraging each other. But the real change comes from actions. Not through some lame IG stories. So, let’s each take a step towards empowering each other. Start complimenting other women. Stand up for each other. Because, there is nothing stronger than a team of powerful and confident women! Instead of being jealous or impolite, let’s practice more appreciation and admiration.  Be Bossy. Be Brave. Most importantly, have a Voice!

Do what is right, not what is popular”

On a lighter note, if you really want to spread good vibes during these tough times, try suggesting some good movies or shows for people to watch in these times of boredom and crisis. Many would appreciate it. RESPECT!

  1. I was just wondering this. Seriously it’s pure cringe to see people doing this stuff on instagram.
Another one is about supporting Janta curfew 🙄
You don’t have to support it by updating stories on instagram.
People are doing annoying shit lately

  2. Haha.. Today only I was tagged.. Chose not to say anything there but untagged myself.. So I could relate to it totally.. And even I felt the same.. Useless time pass and show offs.. Nothing else.. 🙂🙂

  3. This trend is wrong on so many levels. I’ll start with the obvious – less to do with uplifting women than an attempt by developers to capitalize on anticipated viral distribution. Words and actions uplift women, women posting images of themselves wallow in vanity. Sigh.

  4. Do what is right, not what is popular” There are two essential themes here and I appreciate you voicing your thoughts on this platform. Individualism died a sad death a few decades ago and marketing infected our morals. (There is no money in either so they had to go.)
I am 100% in favor of supporting women and it’s about time. The toughest and most courageous people in my life have been women. But I also support men and wouldn’t it be awesome to work together on this. Good point, great post.

    1. Totally agree with your point! As long as humans support humans irrespective of their gender and all other differences, the world will stay a better place ❤
Also, thank you for your kind words 🙂
